Rapport Therapeutics, a well-funded start-up with labs in San Diego is recruiting a self-motivated Chemist to help discover small molecule precision neuroscience therapeutics. The ideal candidate has medicinal chemistry experience with CNS target, thrives on rigorous experimentation, and is a team player. - Responsible for design and external synthesis of compounds that lead to the identification clinical development candidates
- Manage external chemists and collaborations to deliver on aggressive timelines
- Network across the multifunctional research team and integrate data across biology, ADME, toxicology and other domains, to drive medicinal chemistry strategies
- Actively follow scientific and biopharma literature within the areas of research interest
Requirements and Qualifications:
- PhD in organic chemistry and 5 +years of relevant pharmaceutical industry experience
- Exemplary skills in organic and medicinal chemistry techniques including parallel library design and synthesis, structure-based design, analytical methods, and purification methods
- Strong organizational, managerial and communication skills
- Experience in functioning within a matrix driven organization required
- Strong leadership skills and a track record of success in all aspects of medicinal chemistry and drug discovery: hit identification, hit to lead and lead optimization
- Demonstrated record of delivering clinical candidates
- Experience in managing external chemistry FTE resources is a plus
